The Interior Design Legislative Coalition of Pennsylvania (IDLCPA) is a not-forprofit organization committed to advancing the interior design profession through licensing and regulation. IDLCPA was established in the late 1980’s as a statewide coalition. For over two decades the Coalition has worked hard producing two draft bills in the early 1990’s and submitting an exhaustive answer to the Sunrise Evaluation Report required by Pennsylvania legislature in December of 2004. The International Interior Design Association has published the Coalition’s work on the IIDA Knowledge Center, IDLCPA Sunrise Evaluation Report: Defining the Interior Design Profession.
IDLCPA has over 750 members consisting of interior design professionals, students, educators, industry partners, and affiliated professionals. The board has 26 appointed members serving from locations across Pennsylvania.
In 2005, the coalition hired lobbyist Milliron Associates. Working under the guidance of Milliron Associates, IDLCPA submitted an act for interior design licensing in March of 2007. The language was revised in 2008 and will be resubmitted during the first quarter of 2009.
